Nedtælling / Count down

Vi tæller ned til at skulle hjem til Danmark.
We are counting down to go back to Denmark

Det blev til en ekstra strikkedag på baren. Patrizia er næsten færdig med sit sjal til Barbie
og Giovanna skulle lære at strikke hæl i sine sokker.
That gave us an extra day of knitting at the bar. Patrizia is almost finished with the shawl for Barbie
and Giovanna was learning how to make heals in socks.

Lynn var instruktør.
Lynn was the teacher.

Og det blev til en babysok.
And out of that came a baby sock.

Endelig kom solen, så med denne udsigt....
Finally the sun has arrived. So with this view....

sad jeg her og strikkede, mens Teddy forsøgte at finde morkler, men uden held.
I sat here knitting while Teddy was trying to find morels without any  luck.

Til gengæld fandt vi for første gang vilde asparges.
But for the first time we found wild asparagus.

Når man først har spottet en plante, er de nemme at finde.
Having spotted the first plant they are easy to find

Og her er så dagens høst af såvel lange som korte asparges og en stor håndfuld nye fine fennikelskud.
Todays harvest of long and short asparagus and nice fresh fennel. 

Vi venter stadig / Still waiting

Selvom det er smukt, ser det heldigvis ikke sådan ud mere.
Even though it looks beautiful we are happy that the view is not like this anymore.

Men som I kan se, er der heller ikke kommet blade på træerne endnu.
But as you can see there are still no leaves on the trees yet.

Så er det rart, at den nye ejer af baren i Montalto har indført strikkeklub den sidste søndag i hver måned.
Den koncentrerede lytter til højre er Patrizia (barens ejer), som lærer strikkekunstens første trin
af Annemie til venstre (min yndlingsnabo, som også giver mig massage)

Then it is nice that the new owner of the bar in Montalto has decided to have knitting club on the last saturday every  month. The very concentrated listener to the right is Patrizia (the owner of the bar) learning the first steps of the art of knitting by Annemie (my favorite neighbor that also gives me massage).

Senere var Patrizia også i stand til at smile, mens hun strikkede.
Damen til højre er Marion, som har haft feriehus i Montalto i 30 år.

Later Patrizia was able to move the mussels in her face into a smile while knitting.
The lady to the right in the picture is Marion who has had a house in Montalto for 30 years. 

Og selvfølgelig var mine to trofaste strikkeveninder Lynn og Christine der også
And of course my two faithful knitting girlfriends Lynn and Christine were also there

Her et udsnit af barens øvrige gæster. Enzo til venstre i billedet sørgede for, at jeg kunne udgive dette indlæg med billeder. Han hentede nemlig kameraet, som jeg havde glemt derhjemme.
(Enzo og hans kone Vera er mine naboer til den anden side).
Here are some of the other guests at the bar. To the left Enzo who made it possible for me to put these photos on my blog as I had forgotten to bring my camera. (Enzo and his wife Vera are my neighbors to the other side) 

I begyndelsen var det nok for "drengene" bare at kigge på os og fortælle, at hvad vi sad der og lavede, det havde de lært af deres mor, da de var små drenge. Indtil da vidste jeg ikke at alle mænd i Montalto kan både strikke og sy.
Senere viste de deres færdigheder udi kortspillets ædle kunst.

In the beginning the guys had a great time just looking at us telling that what we were doing, they had learned from their mothers when they were small boys. I did not know until then that every man i Montalto is able to both knit and sew. Later they showed their skills in playing cards.

Men vi venter stadig på foråret!
But we are still waiting for the Spring!
