As you probably noticed, I love my roses. I hardly have the heart to pick bouquets and when the rose is about to wither, I hardly have the heart to flick the head. Now I've got an idea, so it all makes more sense. I have started to make rose water!
I found a recipe online and here it is.
You take as many rose petals it takes to fill a 1 liter jug when pressed together well.
Boil this in 1 cup of water for 10 - 15 minutes untill it looks like something that's a lie! Strain the leaves and add a quarter cup of lemon juice and see the miracle! From an ugly greyish color it turns into pretty rosy red.
Add sugar (about 200 g) and boil until the sugar has dissolved Pour the rose water in very clean bottles. Rose water can be used for Christmas marzipan confections and other sweets, but it's actually also good used instead of balsamic vinegar in a salad.
